Summary:
This thesis covers the communal models of craft institutions and the way in which they are implemented in contemporary communities. Through this research, I examine the Appalachian folk craft revival (1896-1937) and offer insights on the way craft operates now. I propose craft teaching is essential for communities to related to land-based knowledge.
